Many people are unaware of the magnificent climate we have in this area. Temperatures vary from an average maximum of 15.8 in July to an average maximum of only 24.6 in February, making the area perfect for most activities all year round.

We are 5 minutes drive to Merimbula, 15 minutes to Tathra, 20 Minutes to Bega and 25 minutes to Eden.

Music festivals, fishing competitions, golf tournaments and carnivals - the Merimbula area has something for everyone.  A selection of the events can be found on turabeach.net, our local community noticeboard.

The local area is full of art galleries and boutiques. In particular, we recommend you visit Boardwalk Art in Merimbula, Bilyara Gallery, about 7 or 8 minutes drive north (just off Sapphire Coast Drive) and Covington's at Pambula (see Restaurants below).

Shawn's sister, Janine, is also a local artist, specialising in abstract (see left) and digital art. Some of her works displayed in our rooms are available for sale. A wider selection is on display at her property at Lot 44 Bournda Park Way, Kalaru, about a 10 minute drive away.

The Merimbula town centre is home to a large number of galleries and giftshops, and a very pleasant few hours can be spent exploring them all.

Merimbula Wharf Restaurant is in a spectacular location looking across the bay to Merimbula's Main Beach. The restaurant is open for lunch (year round) and dinner (from October to April) and is renowned for its local seafood.  Fully licensed and BYO (bottled wine only).  Their aquarium is also very much worth a visit.

Our property is a great central location to explore the many picturesque rides the local area has to offer. We know all of them and we are only to happy to share!

For walking or fishing, North Tura Beach is only 10 minutes walk from our front door and is hard to beat. It is not patrolled, however, and only strong swimmers or surfers should consider entering the water as the currents can be quite strong, especially in heavy surf.

Patrolled swimming beaches include Merimbula Main Beach (6-8 minutes by car), Pambula Beach (10-12 minutes by car) and Tathra Beach (15 minutes by car).

The Sapphire Coast is a golfer's paradise. An excellent selection of courses, very reasonable green fees and heaps of tournaments and competitions where visitors are always welcome.

Less than 5 minutes drive away is the Tura Beach Country Club, an 18 hole championship course designed by Peter Thomson and Mike Wolveridge. This course has been rated in the top 20 in NSW and the top 100 in Australia and while it is reasonably short at just over 6000 metres (par 73), it is an extremely interesting and challenging layout for golfers of all skill levels.

Only 10 minutes drive away is the Pambula Merimbula Golf Club, a 27 hole golfing complex known for its majestic gums, manicured fairways and hundreds of resident kangaroos.

Also nearby is the 9 hole course at Tathra, 18 holes at Eden Country Gardens and the delightful country course at Bega.

We are happy to assist in arranging tee times at any of the courses in the area.

The choices for fishing are too numerous to list here! The area has beautiful inlets and lakes, and pristine beaches. Shawn is an experienced fisher and would be pleased to provide advice about the best locations to get a line wet.

We can also recommend guided fishing tours run by on a fly. We hope to offer some accommodation/fishing packages with this company in the near future.

Merimbula is a great place for whale watching.  During the main season from mid September to mid November, we can often see whales from the lookouts at either end of North Tura Beach.

Bournda National Park is only a short walk from our property. The park has a number of beautiful short walks and picnic spots, and a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Mimosa Rocks National Park, just north of Tathra, is an easy 30 minute drive. It also has a number of beautiful walks and picnic spots and contains some of the most picturesque inlets on the coast of New South Wales.
